One day I opened my laptop and received a nice surprise. I have been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I feel humble and very thankful that somebody has noticed my blog and finds it inspiring.
I was nominated by Travel Plans For Miss Fancypants. Thank you so much!
Have a look at her super fun blog!
What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is a nomination given to bloggers by bloggers. Members of the blogging community nominate others who they think are inspiring and bring the sunshine into the lives of their readers.
Once nominated, you are all required to write a post where you:
-Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
-Answer the questions set by the person who nominated you
-Nominate other blogs and give them questions to answer
-Notify your nominees through social media or commenting on their blog
-List the “rules” and display a Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post
I was asked 9 questions by Miss Fancypants and here are my answers:
1. What songs/type of music do you listen to whilst traveling or that which inspires you to travel?
I’m the type of person, who likes almost all the music genres in the world. Only styles I don’t really like are something super heavy like heavy metal or hardstyle. I like to listen to music depending on my mood. Usually, when I travel I am happy so I often listen to some happy tunes. When I am at the destination I am also curious about the local music. For instance, when I am eating out, I really enjoy when the place plays the local music.
2. What inspired you to start blogging? What are your “blogging goals”?
I started blogging when I first moved abroad. After graduating high school I moved to Amsterdam to start studying tourism. I figured I could start sharing what I am experiencing. At first, it was more like a hobby and mostly my friends and family were reading my blog. Recently I decided I would like to share my experiences to a wider public and connect with more people. I don’t really have any specific goals, just hoping that people will like what I write and to connect with like-minded people.
3. Have you visited some place you then didn’t like/enjoy at all?
I have never been to a place I did not like at all. There have been cities that are less attractive or rather dirty, for instance. Or some mishaps have happened during my travels, like eating food gone bad or I broke my phone too many times, but nothing has ruined the place. It is always an exciting experience. Sometimes the not so nice things actually make a great story.
4. Do you prefer traveling solo, with a partner or in a group? Why?
I don’t really have a preference. I think all those ways have pros and cons. When you travel solo, you can do whatever you want and no need to compromise. It’s also nice to enjoy some things together with a partner or a group. I think variety is the best. Sometimes it is nice to go solo and other times it is nice to experience things together with somebody.
5. Have you had any life-changing experiences while traveling?
Traveling, in general, has completely changed the way I look at the world and has changed me. Every trip has affected me in some way. The times I moved abroad alone, all have taught me that I can manage all sorts of situations on my own and has given me a lot of confidence. Traveling to places where the culture is so different from mine, has given me a new perspective on life. It is so interesting to see how different customs are around the world, yet we are still the same and enjoy the same things. I have made so many new unique connections while traveling. And I think I have become a better person due to this, more open-minded, tolerant, developed intercultural communication skills, a free spirit, and a happier person. Travel itself is life-changing.
6. A young girl would like to travel and see the world but is a bit scared of doing so. How would you encourage her? What advice would you give her?
You should go for it because you will never know if you ever get the chance again. Life is too short and later you will regret missing those chances. And there is nothing to lose from the experience. Even if you will not like it abroad ( which I super highly doubt), you will still gain an experience and learn something from it and grow personally. Plus if you never try it you will never know how it could have been. There is so much to gain from travel. Just to try something new and different from the ordinary life, so many interesting people and new foods to try out. It might be a bit scary at first but it will be an unforgettable memory. You don’t need to go too far from home or to a totally different environment, but start somewhere where you feel more comfortable and just for a short time. Later on, you can go on longer trips and further away when you have already gained the confidence.
7. Name something you CAN’T travel without
My camera! I need to capture what I am experiencing plus I really like photography. I can go without clean clothes or my smartphone, but I need to have my camera. Having photos from my travels is very important to me so one day I can look back at all those wonderful memories. And as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words. Photos have the ability to tell great stories.
8. Have you ever lived abroad? Where and for how long?
Yes, and quite a few places. The longest period in my life I was living in Amsterdam for five years. I also lived in Bali for five months, in Romania for about three months and two times I have done a summer job in Italy living there for about two months at a time. Next, I am going to live in Greece!
9. Have you ever had a crush on someone while traveling?
Plenty. I think all the boys/men were always more exotic abroad and completely different than at home. I have always taught that people are often attracted to something that they don’t have. And so was I 🙂
